I have been in deep contemplation about the teachings of Ramana Maharshi and how they relate to the Self Realization Mantra, and I now have some deep insight into why the Self Realization Mantra is so difficult for fans of Ramana Maharshi to relate to. The two teachings aren’t just a little different; they are diametrically opposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Self Realization Mantra<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Am Thee Iself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Am Thee Allself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Am Thee Godself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Am Thee Noself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Am Thee Amness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individuality is ontologically prior to ego \u2014 the ego is built upon individuality, not the reverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contract vs. Expand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One path tells you to shrink yourself down to nothing \u2014 delete the I, murder individuality, become nobody. Generations flattened themselves into spiritual zombies trying to obey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other path tells you to expand the I \u2014 not erase it \u2014 until it realizes itself as Amness itself. The wave doesn’t vanish. It knows itself as ocean while still waving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s the correction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don’t delete the focal point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You realize it as Amness looking through these eyes, breathing this breath, chanting these words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No annihilation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No deletion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just expansion \u2014 until the boundary is seen through, not removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s why the Self Realization Mantra lands differently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It doesn’t ask you to become nobody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It asks you to be yourself \u2014 fully, fiercely, messily \u2014 and realize that this is Amness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not despite your individuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As your individuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s not a minor difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s the difference between spiritual death and spiritual life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I received the expansion path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I saw the harm of the contraction path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I woke up as myself \u2014 not despite myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call it what it is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diametrically opposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contract vs. Expand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obstacle vs. Doorway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annihilation vs. Affirmation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No softening required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No spiritual diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I choose expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I choose spiritual life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
