That &#8220;I&#8221; am the thinker, the chooser, and the doer of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what if that feeling is an illusion?<br><br>The yin-yang symbol describes this beautifully. In it, the Iself and Godself are focal points of conscious awareness, while the Allself and Noself are vast fields of consciousness. The entire symbol represents Amness \u2014 pure beingness itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"733\" src=\"https:\/\/selfrealizationmantra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-16.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/selfrealizationmantra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-16.png 768w, https:\/\/selfrealizationmantra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-16-300x286.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s how the illusion works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Godself is the animating principle \u2014 the source from which all doing arises. The ego \u2014 the constructed identity built from memory, roles, and conditioning \u2014 quickly claims ownership, telling the Iself, &#8220;I did that.&#8221; The Iself then believes it is the doer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes this illusion suddenly breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This happens to me regularly when I&#8217;m washing my hands. One moment I&#8217;m &#8220;washing my hands,&#8221; and in the next moment, the sense of doership completely drops away. I&#8217;m no longer doing anything \u2014 I&#8217;m simply watching my hands wash each other. There is no &#8220;me&#8221; performing the action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I can&#8217;t say with certainty what&#8217;s happening in those moments. It feels as though the ego has stopped claiming ownership of the activity, leaving the Iself as nothing more than the silent witness. At the same time, the experience also has the flavor of Noself \u2014 the same selfless state we all lived in during the first couple years of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This moment reveals something important: the Iself and Noself are not truly separate.
