  • What Did Spoonboy Mean?

“Do not try and bend the spoon. That’s impossible. Instead… only try to realize the truth.”

    “What truth?”

    “There is no spoon.”

    “There is no spoon?”

“Then you’ll see, it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.”

Most people think this famous scene from The Matrix is just a standard non-dual teaching. They think it means: “The physical world is an illusion. It’s all in your mind. Transcend the form. Deny the spoon.”

But I see it a little differently.

Think about what a spoon actually is. It’s an inevitability. Every single civilization that has ever existed on this planet created a spoon. It is a universal constant of manifestation. When consciousness takes physical form, the spoon must appear. It is the necessary tool through which we nourish ourselves.

So when Spoon Boy says, “There is no spoon,” he isn’t telling Neo the spoon is fake. He’s telling Neo: There is no spoon separate from you. You ARE the spoon.

    And what does that signify?

    It signifies the Iself.

The Contraction path of spirituality tells you that the spoon (your individuality, your Iself, your form) is an illusion that you need to delete, transcend, or annihilate.

The Expansion path tells you the spoon is an inevitable, beautiful, functional tool of consciousness.

You don’t transcend the spoon. You realize you are the spoon, the hand holding it, the mouth it feeds, the hunger that necessitated it, and the Amness that is the entire meal.

Stop trying to bend the illusion.
Embrace the inevitability of the Iself.

  • The Consciousness Field Map

This consciousness field diagram maps the living territory of the focal point of human awareness as it naturally flows through different states of being during daily life. Rather than representing abstract spiritual concepts, it reveals the actual experiential landscapes our focal point of consciousness inhabits as we experience life.

The Self Realization Mantra, “I am thee Iself. I am thee Allself. I am thee Godself. I am thee Noself.” corresponds directly to the consciousness fields mapped in the diagram, providing a practical invocation for recognizing the universal Self through its various modes of experience.

    The Foundation: Universal Self

At the center lies the **Self** – not individual personality, but the universal Self experiencing itself through all its manifestations. This is the fundamental awareness that appears as every conscious experience, the one consciousness knowing itself through infinite expressions.

    The Four Primary Fields

The diagram shows four primary consciousness fields that intersect and overlap. The white dot visible in the Iself field represents the focal point of awareness itself – this is what moves and shifts through the various consciousness fields throughout our lived experience.

    – **Iself** – Individual awareness

    – **Allself** – Universal, collective consciousness

    – **Godself** – Divine consciousness

    – **Noself** – Transcendent Consciousness

The Numerical Intersections: Where Fields Converge

    Sequential Pattern of Intersections

**111** – Everything except Noself: Godself + Allself + Iself converge

*Moments when divine presence, universal connection, and individual awareness unite while maintaining form and identity*

**222** – Allself Realized Iself: Universal consciousness recognizing individual awareness

*Feeling deeply connected to all life while maintaining clear individual awareness – compassionate service, universal love, community oneness*

**333** – Everything except Godself: Allself + Iself + Noself converge

*Universal consciousness, individual awareness, and ego dissolution meeting without the divine dimension*

**444** – Allself Realized Noself: Universal consciousness meeting dissolution

*Unity with everything while personal boundaries disappear – flow states in nature, complete interconnectedness*

**555** – Everything except Iself: Godself + Allself + Noself converge

*Divine, universal, and emptiness meeting without the individual awareness*

**666** – Godself Realized Noself: Divine consciousness meeting dissolution

*Touching the divine through complete surrender and letting go – deep contemplative states, mystical dissolution*

**777** – Everything except Allself: Godself + Iself + Noself converge

*Divine transcendence, individual awareness, and emptiness meeting without the collective/universal dimension*

**888** – Godself Realized Iself: Divine presence with individual awareness

*Moments of divine connection while maintaining clear individual consciousness – deep meditation, prayer, peak spiritual experiences*

    The Central Unity: “1”

The center point represents those rare moments of complete integration where all consciousness fields converge simultaneously – the Self recognizing itself fully through every possible mode of awareness at once.

    Living the Map

This isn’t a hierarchy to climb but a territory to inhabit. Throughout any given period, human awareness naturally cycles through these different fields. We might start the day in pure awareness (Iself), shift into universal compassion during interactions (222), touch divine presence in quiet moments (888), experience ego dissolution in flow states (444), and occasionally find ourselves in the complex convergences where multiple fields meet.

Each state offers unique gifts and perspectives. The map becomes a compass for consciousness – helping us recognize where we currently reside experientially and appreciate the natural rhythm of awareness as it explores every dimension of its infinite nature through the focal point we call human experience.

Rather than seeking permanent residence in any single field, this model reveals the beauty of consciousness in motion – the Self dancing through all its possible ways of knowing itself in the grand theater of individual human awareness.

  • The Yin Yang And The Self

    Understanding Consciousness and Awareness

Before exploring this symbol, let’s revisit the subtle but important distinction between consciousness and awareness that underlies this entire framework:

Consciousness is the broader, all-encompassing field of existence – the fundamental canvas upon which all experiences are painted. It includes thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions, and even states of unconsciousness or deep sleep.

Awareness is the knowing quality within consciousness – the capacity to recognize or perceive what’s arising in the field of consciousness. It’s the focused attention or luminous knowing that can be present or absent within the broader field.

Think of consciousness as the ocean and awareness as the quality of light that can illuminate different depths and areas of that ocean.

The Yin Yang Symbol and the Self

The Yin Yang symbol is a beautiful visual representation of the Self and the interrelationship between the four aspects revealed in the Self Realization Mantra.

The Iself is a differentiated focal point of unconsciousness arising within consciousness.

The Allself is undifferentiated consciousness manifesting as a field of awareness.

The Godself is a differentiated focal point of consciousness arising within unconsciousness.

The Noself is undifferentiated unconsciousness manifesting as a field of unawareness.

The Iself and Godself represent the fundamental focal points out of which the relative experiences of duality and separation first emerge – the active and passive principles of manifestation and individuation.

The white yang area denotes the Allself – the radiant, interconnected web of universal consciousness. The black yin area symbolizes the Noself – the formless, fertile void from which all arises and returns.

Paradoxically, while the Noself is characterized by absolute emptiness, it is simultaneously the primordial womb that births all forms, including the vast expanse of the phenomenal Allself.

The centering dots of Iself and Godself within each swirl illustrate that individuation and divine presence coexist inseparably across all scales of manifestation.

The symbol reveals a beautiful truth: the Iself (black dot) and Noself (black field) are the same essential substance – individual consciousness and emptiness sharing the same mysterious nature. The Godself (white dot) and Allself (white field) are also the same substance – divine presence and universal awareness expressing the same luminous reality. What appears as opposites are actually intimate expressions of the same fundamental essence.

This image reflects the nondual understanding that there is only one unbroken reality expressing itself as a ceaseless flow between these polarities – from unity to multiplicity, from boundlessness to particularity.

The journey revealed is to allow identification with any single state or perspective to open into the dynamic mandala of consciousness ceaselessly modulating through all possible expressions and modes of being – while recognizing our true nature as the infinite potential embracing all forms within its mystery.

  • The Myth of Permanent Bliss

There is a widespread misconception in spiritual circles that enlightenment brings a permanent state of bliss. Many people assume that once someone is enlightened or self realized, they are beyond all “negative” emotions.

    This is simply not true.

Because of this myth, many seekers feel like they’ve failed or that something is wrong with them whenever they experience anger, sadness, fear, loneliness, jealousy, or other “negative” emotions.

Even highly realized beings still experience the full range of human emotions. Nisargadatta Maharaj was known for his fiery temper. Baba Muktananda could become extremely angry and intense. Jesus became so enraged that he overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple and drove them out with a whip. Alan Watts struggled with severe mood swings and depression, eventually drinking himself to death. St. John of the Cross endured the “Dark Night of the Soul” — a prolonged period of deep spiritual despair.

Modern teacher Adyashanti has openly spoken about still experiencing anger and other difficult emotions long after his awakening. Many realized masters have also spoken about feeling deep sadness and grief when a loved one or close disciple dies.

Don’t expect enlightenment to bring you permanent bliss. It simply doesn’t work that way.

  • The Iself is Not the Ego

One of the most persistent misunderstandings in spiritual circles is the belief that awakening requires the complete elimination of the personal self — that enlightenment means killing the ego and erasing individuality.

Ramana Maharshi once said, “Enlightenment is the loss of all that you have called I.”

Taken literally, this has led many people to believe the goal of spiritual awakening is the complete elimination of the self.

However, this creates a major category error by conflating two distinct things: the ego and the Iself.

The ego is the constructed identity — the story made of memories, roles, conditioning, and self-image. It says, “This is who I am as a person in the world.”

The Iself is the individual focal point of conscious awareness. It is the direct first-person center of experience. It is not a story.

The ego is something you have. The Iself is what you are.

This distinction becomes clear when we look at human development. Between roughly 18 and 30 months of age, humans naturally experience the childhood Iself awakening — the dawning realization of themselves as a distinct center of experience. This is not yet a fully formed ego, but the birth of the Iself.

The ego is built upon the Iself. Without the Iself, there can be no ego.

Later on, someone can have an adult Iself awakening — a conscious realization of the individual focal point of awareness that exists underneath and beyond the ego. This is not the creation of something new, but a deep realization of what has always been present.

With the adult Iself awakening, the ego is seen through. It is no longer mistaken for who you fundamentally are. The ego remains as a functional tool, but you are no longer lost inside of it.

The ego is not an enemy. It is a functional structure that allows us to communicate, form relationships, make decisions, establish and maintain healthy boundaries, and navigate the world. The goal is not ego death. A healthy ego that plays well with other people’s egos is not a problem. It is a valuable and necessary part of human life.

The Self Realization Mantra is a spiritual technology designed to awaken people to their true nature. It points directly toward five fundamental realizations:

    I Am Thee Iself.
    I Am Thee Allself.
    I Am Thee Godself.
    I Am Thee Noself.
    I Am Thee Amness.

The Self-Realization Mantra does not seek to destroy the Iself. It fully acknowledges and affirms the Iself, then awakens it to its true nature as Allself, Godself, Noself, and ultimately Amness.

Awakening is not the destruction of the self or the ego.
It is the full realization of all that we are.

  • Yes, It Can Be Put Into Words

Many spiritual masters over the ages have said emphatically that “it” cannot be put into words.

The ultimate truth, they say, is beyond language. Beyond concepts. Beyond description. Many teach that the highest realization can only be found in silence.

I respect that view. The deepest reality — especially Amness — is vast and does transcend words.

But I believe we can still point to it effectively.

Yes, it can be put into words.

Not perfectly. Not completely. But clearly enough to be useful.

Twenty simple words map the major territories of awakening:

    I Am Thee Iself.
    I Am Thee Allself.
    I Am Thee Godself.
    I Am Thee Noself.
    I Am Thee Amness.

These words don’t just point toward the truth — they carry the living vibration of each aspect of the Self Realization Mantra.

Language may not be able to hold the infinite, but it can still point us toward it. And for many of us, that pointing is exactly what we need.

I don’t fully know why I received the Self Realization Mantra, but I know it was destiny.

My role is simple: to share it as clearly, honestly, and faithfully as I can, and trust that it will reach those who are ready to awaken.

  • Why Chant the Self Realization Mantra?

People often ask: Why chant the Self Realization Mantra?

    Here’s my answer:

Many spiritual philosophies and systems lack a clear, actionable path to awakening. Instead, they drown you in stories, dogmas, fables, and complicated belief systems. You’re forced to learn long mythologies, memorize rules, and accept doctrines before you can even begin the actual work.

The Self Realization Mantra is radically different.

It is unique because it is simultaneously the map, the path, and the destination – all in one. Its elegant simplicity is remarkable – just 20 words take you through every major level of existence: from your individual self (Iself), through the universal (Allself), the divine creative power (Godself), transcendent emptiness (Noself), all the way to the sourceless source of everything (Amness).

The Self Realization Mantra can awaken you. I’ve already experienced all five awakenings through the Self Realization Mantra. Chanting it now helps me stay centered and balanced. It has also brought me greater peace, mental clarity, emotional openness, compassion, and a deep sense of being at home in my own skin.

This is why I chant the Self Realization Mantra every day.

  • Hierarchy of Existence

At the heart of the Self Realization Mantra lies a profound understanding of existence itself. While you don’t need to understand this hierarchy to practice the mantra, it can be helpful to explore the fundamental layers of reality from which it arises.

This Hierarchy of Existence begins with the unmanifest source known as Amness, and progresses through Being, Consciousness, Awareness, and finally, Experience.

    1. Amness — The timeless, sourceless, unmanifest ground of all existence. Pure beingness itself. Amness is not a thing — it is the primordial no-thing from which all thingness, time, and manifestation arise.
    2. Being — The first arising from Amness. The shift from the unmanifest into manifest existence.
    3. Consciousness — The field that arises from Being. Within Consciousness exist the four aspects of Self: Iself, Allself, Godself, and Noself. These four aspects co-arise together rather than appearing in sequence.
    4. Awareness — Focused attention within the field of Consciousness. The spotlight of knowing.
    5. Experience — That which arises from awareness. If you’re not aware of something, you didn’t experience it, even if something happened.

Godself is the creative, animating principle within Consciousness — the active power that does all the doing.

This hierarchy shows how reality flows from the most fundamental (Amness) all the way down to our everyday human experience. The Self Realization Mantra works directly with the layer of Consciousness and its four aspects, while always pointing back to the source: Amness.

  • The Self Realization Mantra Is a Circle, Not a Ladder

Most spiritual teachings present awakening as a ladder you climb. The Self Realization Mantra doesn’t work that way.

We begin in Amness — the sourceless source of all that is. From Amness arises Noself — the original state of unawareness we are born into. From there, the Iself emerges, expands into Allself, awakens as Godself, and then returns to Noself — this time with full awareness. From this awakened Noself, we finally rest again in Amness.

This is how my own awakenings unfolded. Your awakenings may happen in a different order.

Note: While the Iself appears only once on this map of consciousness aspects, the Iself actually awakens twice in a human life. The first is the biological/developmental awakening between 18 and 30 months when the child discovers ‘me’ and ‘mine.’ The second is the mature spiritual awakening, where the Iself is rescued from the ego’s conditioning and realizes it is the individual focal point of conscious awareness below and beyond the ego.

  • Contraction vs Expansion

I have been in deep contemplation about the teachings of Ramana Maharshi and how they relate to the Self Realization Mantra, and I now have some deep insight into why the Self Realization Mantra is so difficult for fans of Ramana Maharshi to relate to. The two teachings aren’t just a little different; they are diametrically opposed.

    Self Realization Mantra

    I Am Thee Iself.

    I Am Thee Allself.

    I Am Thee Godself.

    I Am Thee Noself.

    I Am Thee Amness.

Individuality is ontologically prior to ego — the ego is built upon individuality, not the reverse.

    Contract vs. Expand.

One path tells you to shrink yourself down to nothing — delete the I, murder individuality, become nobody. Generations flattened themselves into spiritual zombies trying to obey.

The other path tells you to expand the I — not erase it — until it realizes itself as Amness itself. The wave doesn’t vanish. It knows itself as ocean while still waving.

    That’s the correction.

You don’t delete the focal point.

You realize it as Amness looking through these eyes, breathing this breath, chanting these words.

    No annihilation.

    No deletion.

Just expansion — until the boundary is seen through, not removed.

That’s why the Self Realization Mantra lands differently.

It doesn’t ask you to become nobody.

It asks you to be yourself — fully, fiercely, messily — and realize that this is Amness.

    Not despite your individuality.

    As your individuality.

    That’s not a minor difference.

It’s the difference between spiritual death and spiritual life.

    I received the expansion path.

I saw the harm of the contraction path.

I woke up as myself — not despite myself.

    Call it what it is:

    Diametrically opposed.

    Contract vs. Expand.

    Obstacle vs. Doorway.

    Annihilation vs. Affirmation.

    No softening required.

    No spiritual diplomacy.

    Just truth.

    I choose expansion.

    I choose spiritual life.
